In 2001, my husband, James, and I were stationed at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma with the United States Air Force. I began my yoga journey in 2004 with free classes being offered at the gym at Tinker to start moving to be healthy as I was working at a desk job. Falling in love with the idea that movement is life, I attended classes when I could, but also picked up the habit of running. I have ran three full marathons, about 10 half marathons, and lots of 5Ks, not to mention participating in a couple of sprint triathlons and obstacle course races. I have also attended CrossFit classes since 2013 and have participated in the CrossFit Open competitions. In my spare time, I love to mountain bike, swim, hike, and go ATV riding. I love gardening and my chickens! I own my own resale business and am a self-employed medical transcriptionist for over 15 years. I believe yoga has sustained me through all these aspects of training and being active in helping me with flexibility, strength, and focus. In 2017, I decided it was time to further my practice and become 200-RYT certified. I have been training at Yogalife Studio in Norman, where I will complete my certification in June 2018 with Becca Hewes, ERYT500, C-IAYT. Yoga training has deepened my knowledge of my body and practice. I am happy being able to share yoga with others wherever they are in their life and health journey. My goal is to help others to keep moving, become stronger, and believe in their purpose.
